Principle Purpose:
We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic Food and Beverage Server to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional service to our guests. As an F&B Server, you will be responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guest satisfaction. You will also be expected to maintain cleanliness and adhere to food safety standards.

General Duties
|
- Greet guests warmly and provide excellent customer service throughout their dining experience.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly to any requests or concerns.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including clearing tables and sanitizing surfaces.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operation of the restaurant.

- Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required.

Just a 25 min flight from Glasgow or two hours by ferry from Kennacraig, The Machrie features 47 beautifully designed rooms, suites and lodges, some with their own outdoor terraces and stunning views.

The food and beverage areas of the hotel are busy and a hub of activity right from breakfast, morning coffees, lunch, refreshments for our thirsty golfers, afternoon teas and evening dinner. The hotel has facilities for small private dinners and weddings, our courtyard is great for summer barbecues and the Snug for private whisky tastings. Working in Restaurant & Bar 18, the Stag lounge, outdoor terrace and courtyard you will be trained to serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning coffees, afternoon tea/coffee and wine and drinks service.
Our menus celebrate the best of Scottish coastal provenance, showcasing fantastic seasonal local produce from Islay and providing the ideal back drop for pairing our selection of fine wines and of course our famous Islay whiskies.
As a strong Food & Beverage team, we are working towards AA Rosette recognition and are looking for experienced team members who can help us achieve our aspirations.
Hours of work vary according to the number of bookings and residents in-house. There are occasions when you may be scheduled for a split eg, breakfast from 6.45am to 11am, you then go off for a few hours break and come back and work dinner eg. 5pm – 11pm (allowing you to go and play a few holes of golf perhaps?) or you could be on a breakfast/lunch or a lunch/dinner shift.
This is a full time position paying £12 per hour when fully trained and based on working 40 hours per week over 5 days. We would also consider applicants from those who live locally and are looking for part-time hours.

Live in Accommodation
If you would be relocating to live on Islay we offer staff accommodation either on-site for those who don't drive or within a 10 min drive from the hotel if you have a car. We ask for a nominal accommodation contribution, currently £52.85 per week. Everyone is provided with their own bedroom but share communal facilities.
